We stand by the outstanding work we do in our office, and an oral crown from Dr. Brian Frandsen can be counted on to last for years to come. However, each oral cavity is one-of-a-kind, and everyone experiences different things, so crowns occasionally need to be replaced or repaired. Here are some tips you can follow to keep your crown(s) healthy:
Depending on the type of crown that we’ve applied, your crown could chip. (It doesn’t happen frequently, but it does happen.) Fortunately, this can typically be repaired in our office. Watch out for ice and hard candy, two foods that cause pearly whites to chip.
Another possibility is the glue underneath a wobbly crown washing away without the crown falling out, leaving an opening for bacterial acids to eat away at your teeth. If you detect any sort of looseness, odd discoloring or scents around a tooth with a crown, reach out to us immediately.
Lastly, crowns can fall out of place. If one of your crowns falls out, do not attempt to re-situate it yourself. Instead, place the crown somewhere safe and bring it to us as soon as possible so we can work on getting you a new crown.
