For many parents, a child’s dental appointment is a source of stress. This may be because it’s the child’s first time, or perhaps you or your child have had less-than-happy experiences in the past. We at Frandsen Dental would like to assure you that we will do everything possible to create the best experience for you. That’s why we’ve created this guide to help you prepare for your appointment. Here are some general guidelines to follow:

First, endeavor to schedule your appointment with Dr. Brian Frandsen at a time of day when your child is generally known to be well-rested and happy. You’ll want to avoid bringing them in during naptime, or directly afterward, if your child tends to be cranky when first waking up. For older children, you may want to avoid scheduling the appointment after school or during extracurricular activities. They may be either too tired to enjoy their time with us or sad to be missing out on their other activities.

Second, prepare yourself to be a good example to your child. Show them how to act at the dental office. If you need a professional teeth cleaning, you can even have your appointment first. That way your child can see how you handle your treatment and you can show them that caring for your smile isn’t as frightening as it might seem.

Third, try to leave your personal anxiety at home. After all, your child can most likely tell when you’re anxious or nervous. Before you go or on the car ride there, try listening to soothing music or meditating so that you are calm during the appointment. Visualize having a successful experience.

We understand that life can be busy, but you do these things, there is a great chance your child will have a very positive dental experience in Grantsville, Utah.
